UCS icon and UCSDETECT

I understand with UCSDETECT on, the ucs will align with the plane I'm hovering over. That's what I want, and I have UCSDETECT on. But the UCS icon is not changing according to the plane which I'm hovering over. I can see my cursor axis colors changing as I move from plane to plane (x=red, y=green, z=blue), but the ucs icon is static. I know I've seen a tutorial showing that the ucs icon will also rotate according to the plane you hover over but can't for the life of me figure out how to turn that on. Help!!!

my ucs icon does not rotate until I actually click a point on the new ucs. I'm not sure if this is the behavior that it is supposed to exhibit or not.
