These rectangles were on the defpoints layer...somehow it was locked, even after unlocking all of the layers. I unlocked this one specifically, and I could then delete them. They were outlining the original viewports.

Hi all,

I am stumped as to what these are, I think they might possibly have something to do with limits, but I've never used them, nor to I know how to get rid of them.
I am working on a project in AutoCAD MEP, and after opening the file, I noticed that the areas that several (now deleted) layout viewports are outlined in a yellow centerline rectangle... I cannot select, edit, or delete them, it's as if they don't actually exist in the drawing. I have thawed, unlocked, and turned on every layer in the drawing file, to no avail.

Has anyone ever experienced this?

Thanks!!

Tyler

if layer 0 is off it locks the defpoints layer

Hi, Since it's AutoCAD MEP, chances are they are AEC objects, these objects are used in applications like AutoCAD Architecture to represent items like doors, windows, walls, etc. When these drawings are opened in AutoCAD these objects are called proxy objects and a warning box is displayed. For you to see them correctly you need to install a "Object Enabler" supplied by Autodesk for free. Hope this helps

if layer 0 is off it locks the defpoints layer

also open the Layer Properties Manager, right click on Layer 0 and select VP Thaw Layer in All Viewports.

Then hunt down whoever placed objects on the defpoints layer and slap them around a bit.
