Hi All,
It's been quite a while since I've posted anything and I apologize if this has been discussed but after finally firing up 2017 here in the office we noticed most of our text appears wider and often "hangs" outside of the boundaries of the box it's in or even off the sheet. Text that is close to the width of the it's text box is now chopped off until the box is dragged a bit wider or the width factor of the text is changed by about 25%. Is there a quicker way to fix this other than selecting each individual text example and changing the width factor? We have many different styles and sizes of text in each plan and this could end up costing us a ton of time to update 100's of plans. Thanks for any help/advice!

Cole

Quick fix is to change the text family.
There was a chart out there that tells you want you need to change to get the updated "Text Feature" to display like the one one.

Thanks Dave! When this chart was created was it intended to up-scale the fonts to make them appear as they don now in 2017? We use a bunch of different versions of Stylus BT (different sizes, widths, bold, underlined etc.). Is there a way so scale the actual font so all versions of stylus scale back accordingly?

I don't think you want to get in and modify the actual font file coming from window as this will screw it up in every other program.
If you read what Steve and others wrote, (and from my understanding of it) Autodesk changed the way in with it reads the font style so it matches Autocad.
In previous releases of Revit, when you exported to Autocad you got font sizes that looked very different, and you were required to write a bunch of scripts to fix the issue. So they "Fixed" Revit so it handles the fonts the same.
We just went thru and fixed all the tags so they worked correctly with the new standard. Any project we upgrade we'll need to modify the text family to "fix" the issue.
I'm not going to pretend I know exactly what I'm talking about as I don't. But I do read up on what others are doing, and this is my understanding of it.

That's kind of what I figured. This is a bummer :) In order to move forward with 2017 or any future version every time we open a plan we're going to have to purge unused text files then sit and go down the line of used text styles and adjust their respective width factors accordingly. I almost need to hire a kid to plow through all of our plans and get this done.

It should only be an issue going to 2017. Once you're past that you should be ok.
We only use 3 fonts so it wasn't that bad to change it. And we use Arial so it wasn't that far off.
Got lucky I guess.
