View Full Version : 2016 Center justification for a linetype

I have a legend index sheet that lists all of my linetypes and hatches. My question is how can I align the "special" linetypes with text in them to be center and straight down the middle. It looks really sloppy without doing it this way. I've asked around at my company and just refuse to believe that Autodesk, the company that has a million buttons for things, wouldn't have a commard or something to do this.

Please and thank you

belief or disbelief, neither has any effect on objective reality.

And the reality is that there's no magic button that will do what you want. The ability to adjust location of shapes/text on a linetype simply isn't there.

so fake it -- it's just a legend for pete's sake and really nothing more than a picture. As long as it looks like the the information in the sheets, it's correct.

I don't know of a button to fix it, but assuming the "special" linetypes have the same space properties, you should be able to find a usable length and the text would be centered.

I vote fake-it, .... or, make a block with a line and an attribute for the text. Insert the block(s), give it a line type (continuous or dashed) for the line portion and edit the attribute. Uniform yet adaptable.

I wish linetype definitions were better, something more like the block above, with definable start and end symbols as well

yeah, acad linetypes are still stuck in the 1980's pen plotter stroking mode. And even then we could get better looking hardcopies with ziptape on the mylars.

not as cool as 3d rendering or walk though animations I guess
