i use cad 2014 and use to render a long time ago with accurender.. but its been awhile and im sure a lot has come out since. im actually looking for 2d coloring software. i would prefer it to work inside autocad but not necessary.
dont need 3d or animation, just for quick presentation 2d colors to a floor plan and elevation, nice if it read directly dwg file
what is some basic simple software thats available that you suggest?
thanks for the help!

Adesk had a program that would do that, but killed development several years back. One option in Acad today would be to use transparency and true color hatching
for main-stream software, I'd look into Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator, more complex but better results

No native color presentation software besides hatch? interesting. i figured there would be several choices beside adobe or corel.
wonder if there is a reason why there isnt any.. is it now uncommon for firms to do presentation color plans?

seems like photo-realistic has been the hot thing for quite a few years now, or less detailed renderings of 3d models.
MColor may still be a thing -- the landscape architects at the last used it to spiff up their stuff before bringing it into Photoshop/Illustrator. AFAIK, there's nothing else out there for 2d coloring in CAD, or explicitly designed as a tool for CAD dwgs. Most of what I see is architectural renderings from Revit
Here at mega-big firm, we do a lot of fancy graphics, but use in-house graphics artists to get professional grade results.

Much the same here. For simple stuff we can get away with using one of the shaded visual styles.
