Autocad Dimensioning in Paper space

Good Afternoon
IS there a way to force AutoCAD to ignore my paper space nodes?

I dimension in paper space and frequently the dimension routine grabs the node from the prev dimension paper node instead of the model space node.
This results in paper space dimensions and if I am lucky to grab the model space node and later it gets a partial disassociation and the end results are the dimension go wacky.

I have seen this posted in several forums and the answer is to re associate the dimension - seams like a waste of time if I can force it to just read the model space pick points

This challenge is multi year - not just 2018
