.udp files

I am using Advance Steel AutoCAD 2017
When I save a drawing I see .tmp then a .udp file being created.
The .tmp goes away and the .adp file stays.
What is a .udp file
What causes it to be created
Do I need or can it be deleted the .udp file after exiting drawing?
