Hello,

Brand new to the forum. I've been sort of creeping posts to find the information I'm seeking but it has been unsuccessful so far.

I used to work for medium sized unitized subtractor who did shop drawings in house with AutoCad and used Inventor to model the elevations to generate a BOM and cutlists for the shop to cut and manufacture. I used actually to do both about 10 years ago, but I now forget how and since moved on to other things. However I'm now back with another firm starting from sqaure 1.

Has revit changed... Does it work well with curtainwall and very specific vendor profiles and does it create BOM?
Has Inventor changed?

I'm looking for something that creates shop drawings and creates cutlists that can be dynamically updated when I need.

I dont want to use two programs ie. CAD and INVENTOR when I can just use one.

In Revit the curtain wall tool works very well. Curtain walls are categorized under wall families. The curtain wall uses curtain wall panel families for glazing and spandrels and for the mullions it uses profiles that sweep along the path of the mullions you define. These families can be obtained from manufacturer websites or by making them yourself. BOM can be created through material takeoff function in revit.

Are there any videos or other resources that could possibly help me do this BOM / material takeoff function? I'm a revit noob so to speak...
