View Full Version : 2018 User Guide referenced in Help system

The 2017 - and even the latest AutoCAD 2018 - Help system upon pressing F1 refers to a "User Guide" resource that I can't find on my HDD or on-line.
Under Find and Replace, and other places, the Help system states:

“Use Wildcards
Allows the use of wild-card characters in searches.
For more information on wild-card searches, see Find and Replace Text in the User’s Guide”

So, the query is that someone needs to tell AutoDesk to do proper QA and either create a User Guide with such answers or to include the wildcard solutions, and whatever other resources the Help system refers to, in the Help system installed with their product(s).
Or, maybe there is a User Guide out there that I just can't find myself.

I remember being given a 2,000 odd page User Guide with each purchase - where did they go?
I am hoping someone in AUGI has the right contact for this.....

Hi Tim,

Sorry about that unhelpful reference. It's trying to send you to the topic, About Finding and Replacing Text:
http://help.autodesk.com/view/ACD/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-BAFB39BD-01E2-48A6-8167-61A66487442C

The Release 12 User's Guide on my desk is 684+ pages long. When we decided to move our Help online, one factor was that by not printing our Help documentation for AutoCAD products, we saved over 100 acres of pulp trees a year at the time. Printed information is generally easier to read, bookmark, and annotate, but searching, linking, and updating Help is done much better online.

Best wishes,
Dieter
