i am looking to create General Notes for a project and possibly share those general notes between similar projects. i am looking for best practices and/or efficient methods others have used to create General Notes?

In my experience there are very few general notes. Currently at my office we use:
-Contractor to verify all dimensions on site.
-All dimensions are to face of stud or face of existing wall finish unless otherwise noted.
-Double stud around all openings in excess of 400mm.
-Contractor to coordinate all mechanical and electrical with pouring of concrete.
-Contractor to coordinate all mechanical and electrical with architectural.
-Refer to construction assembly notes for additional requirements for walls, partitions, floors & roofs.

We also have a locked word file in which we can copy paste from for demolition and new construction notes as often these change too drastically from project to project for them to be in the template file.

You can use a Key Schedule. You can add rows as needed.
