View Full Version : 2018 converting down from 2018; alignments and profiles

I'm doing some support for a PM in one of our other offices and for her CAD tech there. The problem is that I'm using C3d 2018, while they have not upgraded since the 2015 version. I've worked out their plan and profile drawings, but if I send them my DWG (2018) they will not be able to view them (in 2015). As I understand, older versions of C3d won't read newer drawing file. What's the best way that I (from 2018) can send them something they can use (in 2015)? I don't want to convert my drawing to generic ACAD; I don't like the outcome.

LandXML is the only method i'm aware of to get anything down a version or three and still keep any intelligence. That plus plain jane acad 2013 format....

Other than 2013-2016, C3D drawings are not compatible between versions.
You can open an older file with a newer version (i.e.: a C3D 2012 file in C3D 2017), but as soon as you save it in the newer version, you're stuck there (or you could go up to even a newer version if possible).
For best results, agree on a version before starting your project. But in this case, you can't so as @cadtag says, you can use LandXML to export out some items (points, alignments, surfaces, etc.) and then reimport them into the older version.
