Detail...but no referring VIEW!!!!

I used the section tool, assigned the detail option to it, cut a detail section over a wall and continued creating my detail. Throughout the course of my work, I seemed to have deleted the section detail cut in plan view, but my named detail is still there. I click on the named detail view and say 'find referring view', and it says there is none to be found!!!! I don't get it. Can someone please advise. I need to be able to reference this detail on my plan sheet.

place a new detail section and check the ref. view box in the options bar, then in the pulldown list select your view.
