Revit 2017

I want to add another field into my grid bubbles. I edit the grid and make a new one so I am all set to edit without breaking the revit default one.

The label that is there is a category parameter called "name" and back in the project this is considered identity data and in the instance properties of the grid you can modify this value. I just want to duplicate this so I have another one that I can fill with something else.

Revit will only let me add a shared parameter to a label. Shared parameters (from what I can see) cannot be edited by instance. When I make my new label with a new shared parameter and load into project it just shows an un-editable question mark.

This is WAY more complicated than it needs to be, I just want another editable field in my grid bubble. Thoughts?

Found the solution! kinda complicated.

1. Go down in browser to the families, Grid heads. right click and edit Grid Head-Circle. Save it as another name.

2. In the new grid family create two new shared parameter under manage. It can be in any parameter group and be named whatever but I put it in Annotation Parameters and call it Grid 1 and Grid 2. Make it Common and Text.

3. Delete the label there and make two new labels, and link each with one of the shared parameters.

4. Load into project and go to manage and click project parameters.

5. Do this twice, once for each. Click Add and click the button for it to be a shared parameter, and click for it to be instance. You will find the one you made is step 2. VERY IMPORTANT now on the right before you click ok to make the parameter scroll down and check the box next to Grids for the Category. Group it under identity data.

6. Now you should be able to edit type on grids and make a new type to use with your new grid family in the type properties drop down.
