Calculate Average U-Value for a tapered roof structure

Hey,

I am wondering if it is possible within Revit, to calculate the average overall U-value of the roof element when there is a layer of tapered insulation present. The roof would also have different layers, including the structure beneath and the top layers.

I'm thinking dynamo here. Plot a grid of points on the roof insulation, pull the z value from the points and dump to an excel sheet to calculate the average Z value. In theory that would get you an average thickness of insulation by which you could plug in the R value per inch and get a result.
Just a thought.
