Hello,

I would like your help on the following question: where we work we use a lot of links in our Revit projects. The problem is, that using links from CAD, Revit, IFC, etc., is making projects too slow. Given that these links are essential in most projects, is there a way to solve this problem? Or at least decrease the slowness caused by using links?

Only think I can think of is to make sure the links are clean and lightweight. If you have a 3d cad file that contains every nut bolt washer and modeled thread, it's going to kill your model. Lots of facets, equals really slow Revit. Revit doesn't like meshes. It really only likes triangles. So i f you have complex curved surfaces, Revit is going to have a hard time drawing them.

I always recommend assigning linked files to their own workset (Instance and Type Workset parameter). This way I can choose which file to Open (Open dialog > Options adjacent to Open button) by using Specify. Then later I can Open/Close their worksets to manage which links I have to deal with waiting for them to load. Quite often I can do a lot of work without some or all of the linked files being visible all the time.
