I have a question about how Florida does there Township grid system... This isn't really associated with cad or just a general question... if it needs to be moved to a different forum please do...I just couldn't decide where to post it...
I am working on a project in my spare time with cad. I’m trying to create some very good resolution satellite images of each Section/Township (very similar to what you can order from the public works dept) but I am working on a lot better resolution… and in acad to scale…..
The question I have is how can I find exactly what Lat and long that the section/township lines are on… I understand that it is based off the conc. monument at Tallahassee Meridian….. But If I want to find out what the exact Latitude and longitude of all four corners of say “section 11, township 25” where can I look…..
Thanks for any input or help…….

look up your local USGS Topographic Quadrangles. Terraserver uses these, but if you find the actual quad maps, they should have all that info on the sides.
hope that helps,

I would contact the town or county that you want to know about. You should know each county and town has there own way of doing things down here in floriduh. Some would use the gps systems and others land marks you know the spot that jimmy bob fell out of the hay barn.thats the town line.

Hi
Please note I've *moved* this thread from the Coffee Without CAD (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=45) Forum to this one as I feel this particular Forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.
Thanks, Mike

I do believe this depends on the coordinate system you wish to honor, WGS84, State Plane, etc. This would be a good question for a professional surveyor if you know one.
Did you look to see if the State of Florida has a spacial data library? I know Michigan does.

that is pretty much what I'm looking for....Florida's monument database.....something that says that the state monument #1234 found on the southwest corner of section......blah blah blah
there should be a list somewhere but I cant find anything on-line.... I have a couple emails out to a couple surveyors around here but I haven't gotten any response yet...which is y Ive posted here....kind of a last resort shot in the dark....

I found this...
The Bureau of Survey & Mapping (http://www.dep.state.fl.us/lands/surv_map/default.htm)
It looks like there are just contacts but I did not have a large amount of time to look into it. At least the names and contact info seems legit.
Hope it helps.
