View Full Version : 2019 Startup for new drawing has gone wonky...

When clicking on the "Start Drawing" button on the Autocad 2019 startup screen, I used to get a completely blank drawing, which would default to the filename "Drawing1.dwg" in the drawing session. Now, it defaults to a complex drawing of a project I did months ago. Thinking I had somehow corrupted a Drawing1.dwg file somewhere in the bowels of my computer, I searched for, and deleted, all reported occurrences of Drawing1.dwg on my computer. No relief. So, I searched for, and deleted, all reported occurrences of Drawing1 with ANY filename extension. Still no good. AutoCad still brings up this big, fat populated drawing as my "Start Drawing" default. I'm sure there is a simple fix, but I'm apparently too close to it to see it. I want my nice, empty startup drawing back. Somebody help me...

Open Options, click Files tab, under "Template Settings" set "Default Template File Name for QNEW" to acad.dwt or whatever startup template you office uses. Ask a coworker. The template should have the default styles used in your office for text, dimensions, plotting, etc…

Glad you got it worked out.;)

Good templates and standards avoid most of the AutoCAD issues I've seen posted online.
