Anyone have this error while opening drawings created by acad05 or 06
We are running acad02 and when opening drawings saved down to 2000 we get the following error:
ARX_ERROR: eNotThatKindOfClass
Any ideas?
Any fixes?
Thanx,
Rob

Thats because you can't open '05 files with 02. Try searching augi/autodesks website for that error & you should find some info on it.

Hi
To go with Steve's above advice, the following might help (apologies if it's teaching you to suck eggs) -
AUGI Search Forums (http://forums.augi.com/search.php?), try using the below "Key Word(s)"
ARX_ERROR
eNotThatKindOfClass
Autodesk web site Search (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/usearch/index?siteID=123112&id=2088334), try the below "Search by keywords or phrases"
ARX_ERROR eNotThatKindOfClass
Autodesk Discussion Groups "All AutoCAD Groups" Search (http://discussion.autodesk.com/index2.jspa?categoryID=8), try the below "Search Groups"
ARX_ERROR AND eNotThatKindOfClass
Have a good one, Mike

Seems to me after reviewing the info you posted, no one knows of a tried and true way to handle this.
We have saved back to 14, dxf'd to 12 and everything else that was suggested, the problem doesn't go away.
aaaahhhhhh!
Thanx

A) The OP said he was trying to open R2000 drawings, not R2005 (which are actually R2004 drawing version)
B) If the OP was trying to open an R2004 drawing in R2002, it would never get to the point of displaying an ARX_ERROR, because it say "Incompatable Drawing Version"

RAD - were these drawings originated in ADT or LDT?
I'm not 100% sure about ADT, but in LDT, you cannot simply save as R2000. There is a special command "Export to AutoCAD->2000 Format" that you have to run in order to convert the objects to the 2000 version.

rkmcswain,
I'm not sure what they were created with, they are local agency details.
My guess is LDT.
After my last post I found info about "export to acad", I will have to request that they use this to create their details.
That is assuming they know how?
Thanx again!

It's on the File menu while in LDT (not while in Land enabled Map)
