PDF import no longer working

Recently I tried importing PDF file into Revit 2021 and received spinning wheel then Revit shuts down without any warning/notification
Previously Revit would give option of sheet number of pdf file then import file with no problems
\Now no longer works with importing image files...png. jpg. Works in AutoCAD. Time to switch back to autoCAD?

You might want to do a re-installation from the Adesk installer.

If that doesn't work, you might do a clean install of Windows and download all the latest goodies from windows update. Then do a clean install of Revit. I know that sounds extreme, but all manner of quirks, bugs and misbehaviors will disappear if you flush windows and start fresh. --> I do this annually as a general housekeeping thing, it's like buying a new pc, everything runs fast and works.

Your solution sounds extreme, but I did previously rely on pdf import from clients, and only update I have installed is adobe acrobat DC.
Could this be the problem. Worked fine prior to this
