View Full Version : Shaded walls--not shaded wall cuts

We use shaded walls in our CDs for our floor plans with a level of detail that shows lines where the wall component changes. However, when we have a window or door in the wall the sill is not shaded. On a white sheet of paper, the window sills are white.

So far in Revit, to get the shaded walls in floor plan I use shaded with edges and have a cut color on the walls. The overall wall color works well when plotting to give a good grey tone to the wall where we want the grey tone to be (not in brick, or EIFS, or limestone. Those have different hatch patterns) For that reason, I cannot use the course selection for the floor plan. Now when I place a window in the wall, I get a color on the sill and inside my window jambs and glass.

How do I get a shaded with edges view of the floor plan yet not have any shade/color at the window sill? What option or work around am I missing?

Thanks.

Change the material of the stud so it has a solid grey pattern when cut (this would be in hidden line mode, not shaded)

What does that do to my sections then? Wouldn't that make my sections grey as well? Can I change that so it is grey in plan and not in section?

Thanks,

That's the bad part about it and is why I'm relooking our standards, you can overide the cut pattern color in the section to be white, but this will also cover up any other hatches...brick, gyp...If you want to use shaded mode you could change the material definition on your windows, but this will change it in all shaded views
