System Variables

Hi All,

Does anyone have a full list of system variables such as cmddia and filedia?

My AutoCAD Mechanical 2004DX sometimes crashes and i lose the dialogue boxes, having to return the cmddia switch back to 1. Any ideas as to what maybe the cause?

we are using Dell Dimension 8300 PCs with 3.2Ghz P4 HT and 2 GB Ram with a 128 Mb ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Graphics card.

These system variables also affect the display of dialog boxes:

ATTDIA controls whether INSERT uses a dialog box for attribute value entry.
CMDNAMES displays the name (in English) of the currently active command and transparent command.
EXPERT controls whether certain warning dialog boxes are displayed.
FILEDIA controls the display of dialog boxes used with commands that read and write files. For example, if FILEDIA is set to 1, SAVEAS displays the Save Drawing As dialog box. If FILEDIA is set to 0, SAVEAS displays prompts on the command line. The procedures in this documentation assume that FILEDIA is set to 1. Even when FILEDIA is set to 0, you can display a file dialog box by entering a tilde (~) at the first prompt.
FILEDIA and EXPERT are useful when you use scripts to run commands.

Used to have the same problems with 2004DX, but have upgraded to 2005, seems less buggy. Make sure you have all the latest updates and service packs from Updates and service packs at Autodesk, and keep your video drivers up to scratch as well.

Why? - mainly because MDT will have some system variables that are unique to itself, plus your question also related to crashing out of MDT (so hopefully people here might be able to help you with that problem, especially if it occurs while carrying out similar operations).
