Hi

When I make an array in the family editor - shelves, drawers, little wooden slats - and when those items in the array have a dimension that can be adjusted - length or height; it does not work:
In this example an array of vertical slats can (hopefully) are attached at top and bottom to the reference planes that determine the "Height" parameter.
When I increase that "Height" parameter, and the reference planes properly move farther apart to increase the height by the correct amount; Revit says "Constraints are not satisfied";
I have not choice but to remove the constraints and then the slats arrange themselves as shown in the attached image, none of them attach at both top and bottom, they make a diagonal pattern....It should look like a normal slat wall....
This happens with shelves, etc.

Any suggestions would be welcome. Sorry if I am missing something obvious.

I have tried a variety of solutions, and tried searching the Forum under "parameter, dimensions and arrays" etc.

Thank you very much

BTW: I just noticed if you do NOT check "constrain" when making the array of (in this case) vertical slats; it helps. Now when you flex, it still removes the constraints; BUT it removes them all at one end only; which is great because when you edit any element of the array to be the correct height; the others now follow. If anyone understands this; please let me know.... Thanks!

Arrays do not work well with items modeled in the same family. It is best to make a separate family of the arrayed element with the required parameters and then nest that into the family where it will be arrayed. Then you can constrain the family to the required reference plains and voila.
