The deployment tool for Civil 3E 2023 says:

SHP Import/Export Utility 2023 for Civil 3D
This will install the SHP Import/Export Utility for Civil 3D®. The Release Notes contain the latest information regarding the installation and use of this extension. It is strongly recommended that you read the entire document before you apply this extension to your product. —

I can't find the release note that this refers to. I don't use Civil, just preparing for the upgrade. It makes it sound as if it's not safe to apply this extension. Anyone have any experience with this?

No help on the release notes but a warning to watch for. We have seen multiple results from this (export) tool rounding off real (decimal) numbers to the nearest integer. After using their tool to create the Shapefile, open an Excel session, close the blank document, then drag/drop the .DBF file into Excel to examine the contents. You can also use MS Access to attach the .DBF as a table. Don't recommend editing or saving in MS Office products. The .DBF file is dBase III format.

I presume that the effect you mention only applies to the db and not everyday useage of C3D?

It appears to affect the export shapefile tools in Civil3D only. The MapExport command (technically from Map3D) does not appear to be affected.
