I'm trying to export a 3d view from Revit to AutoCAD and have it be 2d linework. Is this possible to do and if so, what is the best way? So far, I can only get a 3d DWG file and it is losing the siding hatches from Revit. Another option would be to have the hatch show up in the 3d DWG and then I could do a 2d projection in AutoCAD.

Export a 3D view and you get 3D.
Export a sheet with a 3D view on it and you get 2D.

How did you export the model? If you exported the 3d view, then you will get a 3d autocad drawing, BUT if you export a plan/section/or elevation view you should get a 2d drawing.
As for hatches they can be a little bit sensitive when exporting to autocad, we have found it to be hit-or-miss here most of the time, sometimes requiring a re-hatch job in acad.

Thanks! Exporting the sheet was the key.
