Hello, I have a problem here I'd love some help with. I had this occur on another model recently and I was able to finally find a fix for it, but I can't remember how I did it. I've Googled the error and everything I find is not the answer I need.

So, I have a grain bin foundation (bottom of image) and some loadout bins (center of image). When I place columns for the loadout bin support structure, the lower middle column (between the 2 loadout bins) is attaching itself to the bin foundation and moving it down 8', even though my column stops 2" above grade, so it's not physically attached but it's like Revit thinks it is.

If anyone knows how to help with this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

What is the "grain bin" foundation? is it a big concrete slab (structural foundation)?

Is that column your placing close to the center of the foundation pad? (that is what usually makes Revit want to move it)
If so, what if you just copy one of the columns over instead of placing it?

What if you pin that foundation so it doesn't move? Is is hosted to something like another slab?

Hope some of that helps, hard to think of what it may be without seeing it.

It's drawn as a family because it's something we use repetitively. But it's treating it as a structural foundation for some reason.

I've tried copying the column and it does the same thing. So, needless to say, I'm lost. Anyway, hopefully I understood your questions well enough to provide helpful answers.

Thanks!

Sounds like you have a structural footing (isolated foundation in Revit). You need to break that connection that Revit is using. What works for me is to adjust the base offset of the column to where it needs to be (the footing will move with it) and then adjust the footing's elevation height (Height Offset From Level) to where it needs to be. Hope this helps.
