Hi everyone,

I have problems saving a frame I made in frame generator.
If I use for example a IPE profile I have no problems but when I use a HEA or HEB profile i can't save the frame.
I got following messages (see attachments).
No idea what they mean and how I cansolve this!

Kind regards Yuri

Hi, welcome to AUGI. I moved your thread to our Inventor forum.

First question, Does the folder have Write rights? You might try saving it to a folder on C:\.

Hi Ed,

I guess so I made severall drawings before this frame without anny problem and i did not change the location to save it actually if i make the same frame but with another profile for example a IPE, UPN or L profiel it works correctly.
I got the feeling it is rather a problem with the I beams itself HEA, HEB and HEM!

If you want to post a sample set of files, I could try to replicate it on my system to see if that's the case. What version of IV are you using?

Hey Ed,

I use Autodesk Inventor proffesional 2022

Could it be that my part names are to long?
I just had the same problem with a simple part (not from frame generator) i made an L profile with some holes and modifications.
When i wanted to save same to make a mirrored copy it failed to do so several times but when i renamed the part with a shorter name it suceeded!

So I think it is all in the name!

Windows does have a limit to path lengths. It's 256. Technically, its 260, but you always have to have a drive letter, colon, backslash and a line termination character. That leaves 256 for your path.
e.g. C:\some256characterpath(\n) where \n is the newline character.

Looking back at your first post, you're way over 256. An easy way to check is to paste the path into Notepad, put your cursor at the end and read the column value in the taskbar.

Hey Ed,

You are wright a shorter name did not solve the problem!
In attachment i put some drawings that are ok and the sketch and assembly that is failing.
The assembly "Paal sectie 43Q_43R" i want to insert HEA180 profiles to he outer lines 2 vertical and 1 horizontal.
If i use UPN or IPE it works just fine but when I try to use HEA profiles it gives the error messages i send earlier.
Really strange and frustrating!!!

kind regards Yuri

The project was incomplete. There was too many missing files. Use File>Save As> PackNGo to bundle all the assembly references files in a zip file.
