View Full Version : Is it possible.
Is it possible to make this chair and couch.
All the other types of furniture that I've tryed to use seems to still look square and vectorized.
What I'm after is the curve and slope of the arm rests of the furniture.
Please see attached photo's.
Thanks Todd

Here's an image of something i was playing with. Any shape can be done in Revit, its just a matter of figuring out the combination of solids, voids, sweeps, blends, etc.

Thanks Scott for the start.
It looks great, I do know that it should have been possible and there you show it.
Thanks Greg for the file , Scott think you can post your chair as well, I appreciate your relying gentlemen.

I was playing around with that example above on my computer at home. My Revit license at home had expired, so I was in demo mode and could not save. I will try to re-create it here at work and post it when I get a chance!

Here's a new RFA of a chair I put together in about 30 minutes, and I attaced a JPG so you can see what your getting ahead of time.
Use this basically as a study, I wasn't very concerned with dimension as I built the model. 3 solid make up the chair: the leg, the seat, and the U-shaped chair. The rest is all voids to carve out the curvature.
Let me know if you have questions!

Here it is!.....mmmmmm.....Comfy!
For anyone who may still say: "But Revit can't do organic shapes...."

Nice work! Picking sweep paths seems to be the ticket to these things.

Now if we only had a Sweep-blend tool......
Define a path, a starting profile, and and ending profile....ohhhh that would be Saaaa-WEEEET! (Translation for you non-slang, non-US English speaking: That would be a very beneficial tool to have in Revit!)

I was thinking the same thing as I was working on it...It would be nice if, similar to the host sweep tool, it didn't quit out of the command until you quit it, so you could do multiple within one bleep (that's a blend/sweep ;) ) You could setup multiple ref planes and vary the profile at each to achieve logarithmic type blends without having join to multiple separate blends.
It would certainly make things like custom railing returns and complex ramps a lot easier. Also, it would make so many types of roofs possible.
You guy's are awesome in that the sharing of your work is very humbling.
Thanks.
