Why won't this wall join correctly. I've tried redrawing and dragging away ends and re-connecting. I've tried cycling through the wall join options but to no avail. I can't get this wall to join properly.

Revit could improve this type of joining.

OK thanks beegee. :)

That's just not intuitive at all. I would have spent a long time banging my head on a wall if it weren't for this place.

Could you post a small project with just these two walls?

Okay, Here's my explanation.

Wall joining has several options:
1. The orientation of the joint - Butt - Miter.
2. The properties of the wall (via the wall layer functions).
3. The material of the wall (via the wall layer materials).

This only came to me last Thursday speaking with Brian from Autodesk regarding shaft wall display.

Those pesky wall function numbers actually mean something. They are joining priorities. [1] is the highest priority and [5] is the lowest. I modified your walls to reflect these priorities and viola, it joined.

If you want to see a line between the materials at the joint, change materials but keep the function the same.

EDIT: I think the Membrane layer doesn't count. It's just there.

Additionally, I think the priorities and functions should be separate values. If you want your veneer to join with your structure, you should have that option. Maybe even a second layer of function outside of the <Core Boundary>. I don't know.

Any suggestions?
