With the new version of autocad mech 2006 (seems good so far) I am
having aproblem with power edit.
I draw with the background colour set to default and all other display
settings also set to default, when I go to use power edit from the
right click menu the tool selection changes to the little square box
but also changes colour to black from white which makes it impossible
to see where you are on the screen. I have tried all the usual settings
in options and find myself still stuck. Please help if you can are the
any autodesk fix's out yet?

Thanks

What are you trying to edit. Dimensions, text?

If you are talking about text, this is be design. It is called in-place text editor. Below is from the new features workshop.

With the In-Place Text Editor, you can now see text accurately in relation to your drawing. As shown in this illustration, the In-Place Text Editor displays the bounding box with a ruler at the top and the updated Text Formatting toolbar.
