Hi all,

I have been using CAD for about two years now and the thing that annoys me the most is the different commands the keyboard has short cuts for depending on how it has been setup.

eg. c=copy or c=circle
d=distance or d=dimensions or dimension style manager.

For this time I have just accepted it but now, I want to have a universal system I can use at work and home. If I change jobs, I can take my commands with me.

Can someone please let me know how to do this?

I am not sure what forum to post this in so I posted it here as I have 2005 at home and this is what I want to change.
Anyway, enough waffling...

Regards
Adam

take a copy of your ACAD.PGP file wherever you go

Also look into exporting your profile. That will keep you toolbars right where you put them.

I know exactly what you mean........what I do is print the pgp file and save a copy on a floppy disk. If I do not have a copy of my old hotkeys, I then can easily go to
tools/customize/edit parameters to edit the pgp file when I find myself reaching for a certain key that doesn't work. Using "Reinit" will reload the pgp file after changes are made.

Thankyou so much for your quick reply.

I cannot belive it is so easy. I have already started amending this file to suit my work. But now I can start to modify them both to suit what I use most.

saving the pgp file to a disk is always helpful for just in case incidents. The other files you might want to consider are the mnu and mns files as well. Be careful with the newer version of autocad 2005 though- you'll need to make sure that your customizations aren't in the acad.mns or acad.mnu files. There are files called custom.mnu and custom.mns that can be used to help customize your buttons. I guess it all depends on if you're a "clicker" or a "typer."
