I installed Revit 8 and all of my icons are still blue. I would like to see the new icon colors for the .EXE and for all of the .RVT .RFA .RTE files. How come this didn't change? I know I can go and manually change the .EXE to the correct icon but, the other files don't have a purple-ish icon to change to.

FYI - I had Revit 7 uninstalled during the 8 install.

Hmm -- my question is more like "how can I get all the icons to show blue?" ;-)

Still don't like the purple colour...

I don't even know how you could get a blue application icon for R8... look in this folder:

C:\Windows\Installer\{D7475246-CCDE-469C-AF03-B681B6FBE91D}

That's where Windows stores the icons for Revit. And I suspect families and templates get their icon definitions from revit.exe -- and these are still blue in R8.

"how can I get all the icons to show blue?"

If you install the newest download (build 20050428_2300) the desktop icon is back to blue and without the v8 building graphic on it...!

Personally I quite liked the purple and hope it comes back!!

Purple? Its definitely more of a fuchsia. Who did Autodesk hire to do the graphic design for Revit 8? It takes me right back to 1985. It's still a little too early for 80's retro to be in...

wow, now I installed the new build 20050428_2300 and the desktop icon is blue, but the icon for the actual project files (.rvt) is the purple.... kinda cool, but :screwy:

Yuk!
I opened up a window via explore.
I just noticed that all my Revit icons are this colour.
Is there a way to change this aside from individually?

Hey, also, am I the only one who thinks the solid purple splashscreen isn't as cool as the endless staircase of Revit? :D

At least adt's splash screen is opaque, it's a smidge cooler lol

No you aren't. The staircase was cool. The fuchsia splash screen looks like first year student work. at best.

I like the infinite stair!

Any of the other 4 million colours aside from the pink family would have been fine.
White or black would be better even!

Well I'm sure you all know that there are other products being developed on the Revit Platform. Revit platform will not be differentiated between Revit Structure files, Revit Building files and so on, so the decision was made to keep them blue. Otherwise Structure files would be purple or visa versa.

Hope that Helps!

Let me just say that our purple is MUCH better than the real pink color. :-)

ok, so if I'm reading that right (it's late, so I very well might not be). The exe icons should be different from building to structures, etc, but the rvt, rfa, and rte files should have the same icons they have always had, right? So why do my rvt files now have purple icons? Not that it's really a big deal, just curious...

There is some thing strange about this build! After completely uninstalling & re-installing the prevoius build of Revit 8, I too am getting the mixed up icons everybody has already discussed, but now when I double click on an existing Revit RVT, it tries to open it in Revit 6.1! I checked which applications are register as recommended apps. to open the file & Revit 8 isn't listed. If I search for Revit 8 & locate the exe file, windows still doen't hold the selection.

I had some odd behavior with icon colors but after a reboot they are all back to blue :)

My desktop shortcut is now blue with the new build.
They're still purplish in explorer.

I just received my CD package and have to admit. The purple used on the packaging of the CD case is nice! I can now see what was trying to be done.

I still don't like it on my screen though. If it were darker like the case, then I'd probably like it. It's too Easter.

....and no, the colour on my monitors is not off. It's highly accurate and refined actually!

Just make your explorer view thumbnails and you see the image of your project.

Ahhhh, get back to work.

It's bugging me. The desktop icon is blue (sort of a mirror image of Revit 7's icon), the icon at the top left on when the program is open is purple, directly below that next to the File menu I have a different blue icon, when I go to open a file from within 8 all the icons are purple, but are all blue when I open them from Windows directly. Not only that, when I double-click a file, Revit 7 is the default program! This is seriously messed up. I know I can change the default, but all the icons are screwy...and I am using the latest build!
