Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to install Autocad 2000i into Windows XP? I loaded Autocad 2000i onto my laptop that originally had Win 98. Do I need a special driver to install it?

Thank you for your help,

SAA

I am not at all sure that XP was out when 200i was released, but Win 2000 was and I believe was the preferred platform for 2000i. With that said, the core kernel of XP is based on the Windows 2000 kernel so there should be no problem installing 200i to Win XP, however compatibility cannot be guaranteed. Any application that ran on Windows 2000 that I have tried worked on Win XP so the install should complete without too much trouble.

I say, give it a try ... Let me know if you have any particular issues and I will try to help. I don't have a copy of 200i since my company went from R14 to 2002, but R14 ran on XP when I first tried it.

Did you upgrade your Win98 to XP or did you load XP from scratch? I have had nothing but problems on any system running 98 that was upgraded due to the older drivers in Win98. A fresh install of XP will run much more stably...

We ran regular Acad 2k on XP for a while & 2k was always crashing. Then when we upgraded to ADT 2004 & installed it, later we went to uninstall 2k & that screwed up 2004 forcing us to reinstall it. That was really irritating.

I mean no more or less crashes than on Win2K

Use WinXPs Compatibility Wizard when installing. Tell it to use Win2k. After installation, apply the wizard to the installed acad.exe programme file. That should do it.
