General ACAD 2000 User.
Have been using ACAD 2000 for a couple of years but developed a problem.

When Drawing a circle or any other Drag to size primitive I have lost the preview lines. I get the straight line and on release of the line (circle is there) but just can't see the preview as I drag the line.

This is a minor problem but does cause problems. Have talked to co-workers, some with 20 years experience using CAD of one type or another and none of them have ever seen this problem.

Does anyone out there know, or can suggest (other than Re-Install) where or how to get my preview back??

This sounds very much like DRAGMODE has been turned off. Type 'DRAGMODE' at the command line (without the quotes). The default setting (I think) is AUTO. If DRAGMODE is off, you'll see only a radius line, i.e., no dragged circle preview, in the CIRCLE command.

Hope this helps.

Hi

Check out the following thread from the AutoCAD FAQ (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=189) Forum -

Object(s) outline is not displayed while using commands like Copy, Move, Rotate etc. (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=16792)

Have a good one, Mike

Thanks so very much.........

That was it. DRAGMODE was off. Don't know how it happened. Just couldn't think of the actual ACAD name for this problem.

You have made my job alot easier.

Side note: Have a 15 y/o son learning CAD at school. Think he may have learned some commands to try that I have forgotten. DRAGMODE being the one.

Thanks Again

Thanks Mke........the link to the ACAD Online Help was great. I had even put DRAG in my posted question. Guess in the back of my mind I knew what I was looking and asking for but just couldn't flesh out the question. DRAGMODE Hmmmmmmmmmm
I found some links there that gave me some interesting things to think about.
Also the links let me know that I am one of the vast number of users that can't
always remember many of the background ACR commands.

Sometimes I hate proving to myself and others that I am a faliable human.
