display of existing walls

ok so i have some existing masonry blockwork walls

in existing phase they show solid grey in course and single line hatched as per standard blockwork hatch in medium & fine

now when i'm in new construction i want those walls to show a light grey solid hatch in course, medium & fine (indicating they are existing walls)

how do i set this?

Ken,

Go under "settings" "phases" go to the graphic over-rides tab, look at the material assigned to phase existing. Set the properties of the material of phase-existing to have a solid fill cut pattern and you should get the results you are looking for.

Its just those little quirks that you need to discover as you go through a project that aren't covered in the help files (well not obvious anyway)

Most of my work involves extensions and alterations to existing properties.

I have set up alternate walls for existing and new - which allows me to show existing walls without hatching or with a different hatch pattern or detail - so that they are easily distinguished from new work
