View Full Version : scheduling wall lengths doesn't do what I want

I am trying to evaluate Revit and attempted something very important to the way we need to operate. See the attachment. In the schedule the wall lengths do not match what I have dimensioned on the drawing. With the interior walls I suspect it is going to the center of the exterior walls for lengths (which doesn't work for us). But is there a way that I can control that the dimensioned lengths are shown as I have them shown?

Additionally Is there a way that I can have Revit "NOT" clean up the interesections so that they are shown as I have without the extra work of modifying each intersection individually after it is drawn?

And lastly... which I think is a long shot but thought I'd ask anyway. Is there any way to auto schedule (not add extra text field) the end conditions of the wall angles? For example... in my example I'd like to show wall "1" has 22.5 degrees (1) end and for wall "2" I'd like to show has 45 degrees 1 end and 22.5 degrees (1) end. Thanks to anyone taking the time to review this with me.

The length I believe is taken from center line of walls. to not have the walls join you need to pull them apart then pick the wall join tool and place it over the gap and you will see a choice for dont join. Or it is also a view property setting to clean joins or not.

ps I just checked and I had thought it used to say under view properties "don't clean" but now it has a choice for clean like walls or something like that.

I see what you mean except the option to not clean joins at all is not there. Which is what I'd be after. For now I can "not clean by different types". and manually do it on same types (interior and exterior), but that is just insane for me to fathom doing that for every new home that comes through here. I will keep playing around, but this doesn't look good and this program will be met with great resistance... I fear. Is there also now way to schedule 1st floor (level) grouped seperately from 2nd floor (level) walls. I can't seem to see anything enabling me to do this. It would also apply to Windows, Doors, and openings.
