I am trying to do a polar array for a parking lot layout. The rotation angle I need to use is 2.66. However I cannot get that precise using the polar array feature, it is automatically rounded uo to 3. My other problem is I want the array to fill in clockwise. My questions are:

Can I get a more precise array, ie to 2 decimal places?

Can I get the array to fill in the clockwise direction?

Thanks.

Hi

Please note I've *moved* this thread from the AutoCAD Tips & Tricks (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=180) Forum to this one as I feel this particular Forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.

Thanks, Mike

If you go to the menu format & then Units & put a check mark in the box for Clockwise in the angle protion. Also, you could try changing the number of precision decimal places for angle. That might do the trick - haven't the time to try though.

You don't have to go to all that trouble if you only want to change angle direction for a few uses -just type in a negative angle. -90 gives you 90 degrees clockwise.

With regard to the problem of angular precision, what you will find is that when you are in the array dialogue box it does indeed round up the figure that you have typed in but this is just in the dialogue box. When the array is actually carried out it uses the exact angle that you have input to how ever many decimal places you include.

For changing the direction of rotation it is indeed best to go into format, units and then change between clockwise and anticlockwise. This is because if you try to enter a negative value for the angle when using the option: 'Total number of items and angle between items' It will not allow you to do this. You can (for some reason unknown to me) only input a negative value when using the option: 'Total number of items and angle to fill'

I hope this is a help to you.

Related to question below. Polar array is not accepting negative input at only one seat of Autocad. It will accept negative input at other stations. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

It may be related to the type of angular units you have current. Decimal degrees should accept negatives, others may not be so flexible, but I have not tested.

Go old school, -array, c, follow prompts. Note the dash in front of the array. Use a negative to go clockwise.

Or type UNITS, on the right-hand side select and change Precision under Angles.
(Note this only changes the figures that acad displays on screen; it affects neither calculations nor dimensions)
