I keep getting hung up when Revit trys to finish downloading cabinets. I chose not to download the content becasue it can be downloaded seperately. Is there a link so that they can be downloaded without using the installer (which hangs on me every time). And if I downloaded the content seperately the only think I am missing is the help cabinet...right?

If you go to the 6.0 Download Centre, scroll down and you will see the link for Content as a separate download.

Are you sure Revit is hanging when downloading ? I've got cable connection and it still took a helluva long time to download. But I was comforted by those blue bars sloooowly crawling across the dialogue box.

I downloaded the whole damn thing, cos I'm never sure whats been did and whats been hid, with content.

Don't know about the Help cabinet, you need to eyeball that Content page closely.

I can confirm that the content downloads behave a little differently. You click on the link and "nothing" happens except you get a little "busy" cursor if you hover over the top bar of the IE window (don't know about other browsers).

Anyhow, eventually you are greated with a file save dialog box. Not sure why it masks the download process and puts the saveas dialog in last instead of up front, maybe to ensure the download succeeds?

Not me - i get a timed out pop-up
mine gets hung up on the install cabinets too.
I installed it at home with no problems.
At home i have xp, at work I have 2000, maybe this is the problem.

I looked for the help cabinets, but didn't see any (I am tired mind you...but hopefully not blind). It is hanging up, but I could try letting it run for the better part of a day before killing it. My connection is fast, but not consistent so downloading zips is easier - if they stop windows picks up where it last left off.

I also installed on two machines from the downloaded executable and the content cabinet files. Unfortunately, the help and tutorial info was incomplete. I plan to copy the missing parts from one of my internet installs.

Jon,

Any of the cabs the installer automatically downloads can also be manually downloaded from this link http://revit.autodesk.com/EN/6_0/DownloadContentEN6_0.htm

This includes the help and training .chm files.

If you experiencing problems with the automatic content download while installing, please see Steve Burri's comments in this thread http://www.zoogdesign.com/forums/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1933&highlight=

Thanks Tatlin,

I swear they weren't there before (the help cabs) but I finally saw them last night.
