Sorry about asking this, I haven't had time to really look at the forums much over the past several days. My office just received our subscription copies for Revit Building 8. I didn't even know that another version was coming out. I had been under the impression that full Revit release (successive whole number versions) were happening about a year apart, but it's only been a few months since 7 was released.

So I'm wondering, just what is Building 8? Is it suspposed to be the replacement for 7? Or is it supposed to be something to be used alongside Revit 7 (I saw somebody mention something about this being a "structural" release or something)?

I guess what I'm really wanting to know is, can Building 8 do everything that 7 can, plus the updated stuff?

Autodesk released Revit as "Revit Building 8.0" now to align it with the normal annual release cycle of their other Building Solutions software. Now every spring we will get new versions of ADT, Autocad, Revit, etc. It is now Revit Building in that you will soon see vertical products for other disciplines (Structural, et al) built on top of the Revit 'platform.' Revit 8 should replace 7.0, not used in tandem.

ah okay, gotcha.... my boss seems to think v7 is buggy. I haven't had too many issues, but hopefully 8 will be better.

The latest build (web-available) is 20050428_2300, is it not?

I think Wes was referring to the latest build of v7 (which is presumably less "buggy" then earlier builds).
