Hi, I am 21 yrs old and have been doing AutoCAD since I was 16 yrs old. I've performed this skill on the job since I was almost 17 yrs old. I started at Custom Architectural Designs, where my father was the head of engineers. They do custom architectural metal fabrication, such as column covers, grid beam, wall panels, etc. I left there when I was a little older than 19 yrs. do to lack of raises. I then worked for about 4 months at Amenity Architects, where I put landscape designs into AutoCAD, it was okay, just not my thing. After that I was hired to be a Project manager at Yancey and Jamieson, Inc. They pretty much just sold metal roofing and siding commercially. We did do some custom work. I designed the Airfoil canopy for Manheim Trade Centers in Atlanta. It turned out pretty cool. But I was released because of a small $6,000.00 error on trim design for Manheim, which I feel was ridiculous since the profit off the job was a couple hundred thousand dollars. Now I am working at Tucker Mill Works, Inc. where we design custom doors and windows for residential and commercial buildings. I am happy , work is good, pay is good, only complaint here is the one 1 1/2 hr drive one way everyday. What I was getting to is that I'm still fairly new at this and wandered if anyone out there might know a few tricks that I have not heard of yet. I have been browsing your tips and tricks and nothing has really caught my eye yet. thanks,
KYLE

Welcome Kyle... I am going to move your post from the Tips and Tricks area as I think it would be better served here... best of luck finding helpful things... the tips and tricks area is rather new, so I would recommend browsing the general autocad forums as a start.

Welcome Kyle,
Since we do not know what you have heard of already, you probably won't get many answers to this question. A specific request is best.

Wow, working at 17 in a drafting position. Congrats, most places wont hire until your 18, yet alone let you work on important designs.
