I am continuously receiving the following error when attempting to open the CUI dialog box:

The CUI file you are attempting to open is invalid. Select a different CUI file and try
again.

It started happening after I had created 3 custom tool bars. None of them are there and i receive it ever time I try to access the CUI dialog box.

I have currently uninstalled ALL Autodesk products and cleaned out my registry. Then reloaded after a reboot.

Any other suggestions. I have went to Autodesk and can not find any error messages on this matter and Autodesk support just had me do the uninstall/reinstall.

Any input would be great. Thanks.

Amy,

Are you menu-loading a legacy mns with your customizations? What version of AutoCAD did you upgrade from? Can you post your legacy .mns file? There are probably slight programming errors in it that are making the CUI pitch a fit.

I am coming from AutoCAD 2005. I was trying to create completely new toolbars. And I can not send any old .mnu files due to the fact that I did Autodesk's recommendation and completely uninstalled all Autodesk products and cleaned out my registry along with any support files.

It must be something in how you created the toolbars that corrupts the CUI. A couple of tips:
Backup your CUI before edits (duh).
Create a separate CUI for "play" to attempt minimizing risk to the main CUI. You can transfer good stuff after it is ok.
If you hose the Acad.cui, there is no need to reinstall AutoCAD. Simply copy the Acad.cui located in the C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2006\UserDataCache\Support folder to your profile's Support folder.
Pay close attention to macro IDs. Many people have used the same ID for separate items in years past, without understanding that the same ID really should point to the same macro. In the CUI this is enforced.
Did I mention backups?

I am having the same problem. I have no legacy mns files, no macro ID's and the toolbars were all created using AutoCAD commands (no cutom anytihng just a clean AutoCAD slate) My opinion is that the CUI interface is unstable and may not be suitable for use yet. I simply can't uninstall and reinstall AutoCAD every time the CUI fails.

Okay this may be late coming but yesterday Autodesk published that there was an updated .dll file to prevent this.

I haven't tried it yet. But I hoping it works.
