I had a problem trying upgrade an existing file from 5 to 6. Came up with a serious error and then eventual crash. Revit suggested to upgrade manually what does this mean? exporting the families out and upgrading individually?
I however mananged to fix (upgrade) by purging unsued items and dumping the non essential items like some of the views and walkthroughs. If I was archiving the file I would do this anyway but probably a good thing to do between versions.
Original file size about 12 Meg cut back to about 9 meg.

I've tried a couple of files now with no problem... can you give more detail and/or post the orginal file so we can see what made it choke? So that we can watch out for it...

thanks!

Thanks Jeffrey,

I have about 20 other files that I am yet to upgrade, will do all of them first and report back.

I had the same problem. The error message actually told me to contact Revit Support to have them upgrade the file! Imagine the nerve! Anyway, I am chalking it up to too much good new stuff in 6.0.
