Hi All

I am busy adding certain parameters to some windows and i want to save the window out , add the parameter and then load the window back in so that the parameter i add can be schedules. When i look in the project browser i can see all the windows that are in my project but when i try and save the one window out it does not show in the list of family files. I know exactly what the window is called. It is a casement 340 21DDT.

Any idea how i will be able to save that window out from my project?
P.S I am still working in Revit 7.0

Saving a family back out was introduced at V7.0

Was your project upgraded from an earlier release as this may of been why ?

Hi Phil
You were able to save the family back out in V6.1 aswell. But to answer your question yes it was started in an earlier version. Your solution may make sense but then why is it only this one window. I could understand if it were more than one window that i had this problem with.

Very confused user at the moment.

I had the same issue with a single family that was created in an older version of Revit and it wouldn't let me save it out from the project. Luckily the problem was solved when the original family was relocated and we upgraded the family to Revit 7 and reloaded it into the project. I think the family must have pre-dated being able to save families out and it hadn't upgraded within the project somehow... a glitch...!? :?

Hi Elrond
When u say relocated . What do mean? You found the original family? My question is that if you do not have the original family file how do u edit it?

Hi Glen,

Yes we found the original family file .... otherwise we were stuck....! You might have to email your project to support and ask them to 'extract' the family for you.

It would be useful to know if anyone has overcome this without finding the original family file...?

Cheers, Elrond

Hi Elrond

Yes you were lucky that you were able to find the original file. That is how i overcame the problem.

Like you said it would be interesting to know if anyone has overcome this issue. The file is 100MB but I suppose i could copy and paste the file into a project and mail that to support.

Thanks for the info
