Hi All
This might be a silly question but is it possible to do a global edit of all the text in my schedules. I know that there is the apperance setting under view properties in the schedule but this only affects the current schedule. What if i have over 50 schedules?
Is there a global setting anywhere that I can change?
All help is appreciated.

Not sure what you mean, but if you want to globally change a font in the schedules, globally select the schedules in the project browser with either the shift or control key, then right click, select properties, & you'll see the schedule properties dialog, where you can change the font under the appearence tabb.

Which version are you working in? I am still in V7.0 and I am unable to select multiple schedules using either ctrl or shift.

Is it possible to do it in V7.0? Our client is still in V7 and is not yet willing to upgrade on this project!
Un Chartered waters I guess.

Actually, I don't think you can do it in 8.0 either
You can multi select schedules from the project browser, in 8.0, and open the properties dialogue, but when you attempt to edit the appearance or formatting - nothing happens. It seems the functionality does not apply to schedules.

Hi Beegee.
I have found that it does not change the apperance in the actual schedule but if you look at your schedule once it is placed on a sheet then it does change.

I think we're talking about different things here Glen.
I'm referring to the RB8 feature to globally select from the project browser and then change the properties of all selected elements. In the case of schedules, the appearance tab does not open at all.

You are right Beegee. I just retried it, & got the same result.:?
Oh David. What's up with that??

I would think formating and appearence is a very individual thing!

But if it is a common parameter then surely it makes sense that it can be globally edited...?

Hey there,
Want to hear a silly workaround?
Go into Windows and modify the font used in your schedules. Change the font to whatever you wish; however, keep the same name. (Don't forget to modify the original first however so that you can still use it, even though it will have a new name.)
Then, your schedules will all change to your new font. Now, if this is the same font you used for notes and dimensions etc, simply click on any note and select all instances. Now you can select the original font with your new name.
Hey, it works!

Hey Steve, did you learn that one after playing a practical joke on someone by renaming their fonts or after someone played it on you?

No, but that would be funny!!! I learned about renaming fonts when I had my own hand lettering turned into a TTF ANSI Character set.

Well then I think you'll have to post an example of the SCShell Handwriting font so we can all see how it looks... ;-)
(but not the font file itself otherwise your handwriting might turn up all over the place! )

How do you multiple rows of items in a schedule's column at the same time?
Shift selecting them or windowing them and clicking on the first pull down row does not work. I have 40 drawing sheets that need to show the same revision description dates and details. I know the other way to do it is to edit the titleblock family so it is permanent for all, but this is a parameter editable titleblock that changes by the project.

From your schedules properties>Sorting and grouping ... un-check itemize every instance .. change info in cells then go back and re-check it..
if you only need certain rows changed .. you can group or filter them until you only show those that you want to change...
Hope this helps.

That is just great! How did you do it? What a nice touch to have on the drawings... All those years spent learning lettering wouldn't go to waste... :)

Hey there,
Thanks! It is funny that everybody still makes fun of my lettering....."looks great, but can't read it" kinda comments. Sad but true. I still have a hard time telling the difference between my 5's and 3's. But, at least it is consistent. lol
I had a company if found turn it into a True Type Font. They sent me the lettering template forms to fill out with all of my text. Both upper and lower case along with all of the symbols.
It was worth every penny. (I can't remember how many pennies though.)
