My wish is a tiny freestanding dwg converter that can convert the latest dwg format to any previous dwg format.

But you must have a relevant version of AutoCAD installed for it to function / work...

Yes, that is very true... so it wouldn't be good for everyone. You would need a copy of AutoCAD 2004 or 2004 LT to use it. I agree, for people using an earlier version that a stand-alone program would be great!

"DWG Gateway" looks good, but it is not stand-alone and it merges into the latest installed AutoCAD version, and You newer know what is going on in that black box,
and probably the program is delayed when a new AutoCAD version is released.
I would like Autodesk to make and distribute that kind of safe converting dwg program.
