The tale of the disappearing ducks!

Hello All, (question 2 of the day)

Can anybody explain why when I change the phase of a view the ducks (elevation symbol) disappear? I can't seem to set the phase of the symbol. Am I barking up the wrong tree here?

I create the phases I need, then duplicate(with detailing) the level, then I set the phase of the level as appropriate. Lo and behold the ducks have gone!

Any ideas?

View tags of one phase are never visible in views of other phases. That rule applies to elevation views (ducks) as well as to detail and section views. You often would not want a new wall section to show in existing conditions view, would you? Besides users often want to set up view parameters of existing and new views differently and that requires two different views, one for each phase.

Create a copy of elevation view for each phase where you want to see elevation tags in your plans.

I can see the logic of the method, it makes sense to create phased elevations along with the phased plans. I just needed to know I was not doing somthing stupid!
