View Full Version : Need help for problem with incomplete selection sets.
When I select a large group of objects to stretch, move or whatever and then zoom in to select the snap, and then select the destination snap, only the objects within my current veiw will be affected, leaving the portion of the objects outside my zoom in their original position. This is causing a lot of problems. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

That's the way acad is programmed.
I'm not sure if this still works but it's worth a try -
use the Select command to make the selection set. Zoom in, start the Move (or whatever) command and use P for previous as the selection.

What if you simply use the "big view", i.e., where you can see everything you want to select, and then select it, finishing the selection with ENTER; then zoom in close enough (the "small view") to accurately pick your base point and your destination point. That way you can see everything to select it, and still get close enough to accurately pick your points.
Thanks for the suggestion and reply. Your solution better describes my problem. once the set is selected, and entered with a hard return, I should be free to zoom to my hearts content, secure in the knowledge that my objects are selected. The problem is that ACAD is excluding everything previously selected that is not in veiw when my points of displacement are chosen. Only the objects in my zoom view will stretch, excluding previously selected objects outside my view.
Thanks, that is a good idea, especially for the move command, I doubt it will work with stretch. You commented that that is just how ACAD is programmed. I used ACAD for about 10 years, then took a little break. I don't remember this problem with release 14 or earlier, but my little break probably didn't do my memory any favors. Thanks.

Just for suggestion, draw a line from the two points of the stretch and then put it out in open space of the drawing, then select and stretch for the endpoints of the line. It is kinda convoluted but it would work.

Now, that is a good suggestion.
