View Full Version : Round wall vent, and roof dormer vents?
Does any body have one of these or both of these? I have been trying to get onto rugi but it seems to be down - now for the last couple days. I would greatly appreciate any vents (even square ones), since I am having a hard time with arrays.
Here is an array I am playing with. It took some playing around to find what Revit will and will not allow:
12/24/2003 Arrays
1. Create the solid to be arrayed without locking it to any external reference planes (create reference planes and parameters within the solid sketch – one for width, and height)
2. Array the solid, and Lock the top array to the top ref plane, and a side ref plane, do the same for the botm array
3. Don’t use a center ref plane because the widths of the arrayed solid and the family widths won’t flex together.
4. For the height parameter dimension the actual array itself and assign the height parameter to it. Now you can lock either the top or botm array to a ref plane.
If you open the file you will see that it flexes fine with width and height (the object being array is not an in place family, it is just a sold create as above).
THE PROBLEM
I can not assign a value to the "number of arrays" every time I try to label the parameter Revit crashes - every time.
Here is one with trim, it works but there is not a parameter for number of arrays. You could redefine the solid to represent a true louver, but I am lazy and in a hurry.

Hi Jon,
Here is your "vent" file with the array labeled.
I didn't have any problem with it, just selected an element in the array, then the array, ( not the number ) and then labelled it. It works fine, as far as I can see.
Try it with your "vent with trim" file and let me know if it works OK.
PS. RUGI is back up and they have a round vent there also.
Thanks for looking at it, this problem must be releated to my computer. When I try to label a parameter it still crashes the program - even the file you uploaded.

Hi Jonathon,
Are you using 5.1 or 6.0 ? Try using the other one. Who knows.
Also, try opening another template and setting up an array to see if the same problem occurs.
Shooting in the dark, but worth a try.
