I have recently been introduced to the exciting world of .pan files and I have heard the phrase Hot spots being bantered around. I have a basic understanding of what they are and would be interested if any one knows how to incorporate these into .pan files.

Take a look here. (http://www.panoguide.com/howto/display/virtualtour.jsp)
It'll give you a good explanation of how to do it.

Cheers for the web page it is useful but I'm still finding it difficult to create hot spots. I use imove to view my .pan files and the website suggest that I can author my hot spots within this viewer. I would be grateful if any one has any experience in using this viewer ( I'm having a real blonde moment (no offence to anyone blonde))

Unfortunately, I don't think the Imove viewer (pan file) is supported by the original developer.
I've yet to be able to get a Revit generated ivr file to work in any viewer, so have stayed with pan files, which the imove viewer will display.
As for hotspots, as far as I know, I don't think imove supports or implements them.
Imho, I think spherical panoramic files are great for showing a rendered interior view.
But there are still a lot of holes to fill....

I appreciate you're input on the matter and I agree that spherical renderings are a wonderful tool.
I shall hunt on for a tool that will allow me to create hot spots!

Does anyone know how to place the .pan files in power point?

pan files are very cool. Its THE way to show a client what an interior space will look and almost feel like. I too would like to learn more but its been a while since I've done much with them. I was able to get a pan to work in a web page with some code that I downloaded. It didn't work perfectly, but it worked. I've seen a pan file linked from power point, but not controlled from within a slide. Let us know if you find a way to do this.
