Entity Draw Order in a Plot Sheet w/xref's

I am having a problem with how entities read in a plot of a drawing sheet w/detail xref's. I have site sections with elevation graph lines that are gray scaled to read very light. Late in the game the vertical scale was changed for clarity and the graph lines had to be redrawn as last entities. I can send the graph lines to the back with 'draworder' command in the section drawing. But in the drawing sheet with the site sections xref'd into the sheet I have no control over the draworder of entities and the graph lines overwrite some of the pertinent section lines in the plot.

Would prefer not to have to insert as block and explode to gain draworder control. Any suggestions and/or assistance is greatly appreciated.

The draworder command only works in the active file. When using halftoned objects in xreferenced files draworder doesn't make any difference. For Xref files, it reads objects in the order of creation (ie. if a halftoned hatch was drawn more recently than some text that crosses it, then the text will be behind it).
What I usually do in these situations, is to select the objects that I want to be in front, then MOVE them to one side a specific distance. I then COPY them back the same distance and delete the original stuff. This way the objects that were copied will be the most recently created objects and will appear in front of the others.
I hope this resolves your problem. I know it drove me crazy until I figured out what was going on.

Imacad, just a suggestion, would setting your print graphics so that the lines merge vs. overwrite help?

Give this a try....


Command: Plot
Select the plotter, click on properties
Click on the Device and Document Settings tab then expand the Graphics line
Select Lines Merge

old topic, but i'm just wondering if draworder in xref issue is resolved in newer releases such as C3D 2009

seems to be -- i've had no problems since the 2006 version came out.
