View Full Version : Problems with Site Pads

I have a building with an elevator pit, so it requires 2 different pads. Just today, the elevator moved and so I went into the site model to fix the pads to reflect the change, this is what I did:
1) Fixed the pad of the main floor, then copied the sketch lines that cut out the area for the elevator pad.
2) Edit the elevator pad by deleting the current rectangle and then pasting the sketch lines from the other pad that represent the elevator shaft cut-out.
SO--SAME LINES IN THE SAME LOCATION, BUT--I keep getting this error message saying that the pads are overlapping, and they can touch but not overlap, so let me say it again--SAME LINES IN THE SAME LOCATION.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening? I am getting really frustrated here, I have spent about 2 hours on this so far and I can't afford much more time on it.

Thanks!

Hi Danielle,

Try drawing the lines for the second pad using the pick tool as opposed to copying and pasting from the clipboard. I tried it both ways and it seemed to work OK for me.
Sometimes what seems the obvious approach that should logically work doesn't. Remember, we are dealing with computers here. Good luck.

The pick tool is a nice idea, but my site topography is a linked model because at one time we were trying all sorts of different options, so the pick tool won't work on a linked file. Any other great ideas?
